A base camp that sleeps more than 200 and feeds more than 1,000 has been established in Marion to support the restoration efforts. The base camp is a central location for supplies, fuel, showers, food, materials and other items to accommodate workers so we can get the lights on more safely and quickly.
The Ameren Illinois Utilities continue its aggressive efforts to restore power to those communities affected by severe storms that blew through Southern Illinois Friday. More than 1,300 workers are working 16-18 hour shifts to restore power. More than 15,000 customers have had their power restored since Friday afternoon. Safety continues to be our first priority - for customers, co-workers and outside contractors.
