"Achilles"? I have a book pertaining to all british tanks (and variants) to all american tanks (and variants. The Sherman takes up 20 pages by itself) and commonwealth tanks. There is nothing in the book about the Wolverine also being called the "achilles".

The 17 pdr SP Achilles was basically a modified M10, the main difference being the gun. The main armament of the Achilles was the Ordnance QF 17 pounder, a gun with greatly superior anti-tank performance over the standard American 3" anti-tank gun.

@Jackty89 I meant technology for anti submarine work. By that I mean 'Hedgehog' technology, Bletchley Park (Enigma Cipher war won in the end), Liberator planes and catapult aircraft on carriers, the Leigh Searchlight, Metox reciever and so on because in the end the Germans lost the submarine war because they did not have upperhand in technology here.

@Juicingood i think you mean radar for planes and boats(sub hunters) because german had the upperhand with their subs. it's true better late then never but it actually never fought against any tiger because it was deployed so late

@Jackty89 Better late than never. I think the Uk spent a lot of time on technology like radar for planes and submarines. Never enough time or money went into tank design just lives.

@Juicingood yes that could be true but that tank was only used at allmost the end of ww2 it's service use(see wiki) was from 1944-1958, no doubt it had a good gun to finally able to penetrate the german tanks, but as always the came up with the design way to late and i bet if that tank was used earlier on th germans would have build a countermeasure to beat it idk if a german tank could 1-shot it but i probably could but then american tank(allied) had better speed then germans ;)
