Hi, I open the picture, double click on the layer to unlock it, then go to color dodge, but nothing seems to happen....the picture stays the same.... What am I doing wrong?

im not very pro in this but, if why a backup layer? can't you just undo all of the progress?

You could but sometimes you can only go so far back. So its just a good idea to have another layer of the original layer as a back up. Just saves time.
