One of Southern California's treasures, Mel Durham, playing an old time fiddle tune that he brought with him from his family. Coming Through The Canebreak (To Shoot The Buffalo). At 93, Mel can still pump out his tunes.

  • It seems a Donegal or a scottish tune, isn't it?

  • American Oldtime string band fiddle music. This particular style of fiddle playing is a mix of irish, scottish, and african music. This particular piece would lead closer to Irish and Scottish I think =).

  • Oh and by the way that isnt the song hes playing!!!

  • No one knows any thing about this dont be supprised your from California. Just because it sounds old doesnt mean its Irish or Scottish or African or German or English exc..... Jigs were generally wrote in 6/8 time and some reels were but rule of thumb is American Old time fiddle music is in 4/4 time with no accent on the up bow such as Irish and Scottish music. The culture of old time music has its dirivitives and influence from Irish and Scottish and French and German and blah blah blah!

  • Somebody ought to put a link to where we can buy this guy's cd on here!
