i want to live off the land of a tribal island. first is there waves on the few isolated islands, second would they even let me? or just run me off.

In retrospect of what has transpired with regards to water issues, how does our family members on the island feel. With some of us who moved to HNL, we see both sides. Are there any resolutions that the community has expressed?

No development. Keep this island pristine.

Aloha A'OLE PONO great questions to pose to all Native peoples the world over being strangled by economies in which they are deliberately excluded when it comes to decision making. Many blocks came at the time the Queen was dethroned. Today you are experiencing multi-levelled and systemized power and control relationships you see as 'having jobs' and the illusion of participation in a mafioso economic system. What spaces can Moloka'i create to preserve the culture and create sustainable work?

I have been to Maui and it is so beautifull but if i want to get stuck in traffic jams i can stay at home!. Keep Molakai as is. In the long run everyone will be better off.

i mean moloka'i is beautiful...keep it the way it is
What is the status of this plan now? I'm on my honeymoon right now in Molokai and I am absolutely loving it purely because of how quiet it is here. I'm from Mainland America so this is all so new to me. Right when we got here though, I started seeing signs talking about La'au scam and what not and came across this video because I was wondering what it was about. I really hope this doesn't happen. The reason we chose this island is because it isn't a tourist trap like the other islands.

mahalo for your interest and concern. the la`au point development is currently shelved, but may return in some form in the future unless more responsible land owners can buyout molokai ranch and put the area into conservation. google "molokai future of a hawaiian island" and download the pdf document to see the positive side of what was born out of this particular land battle. also watch "molokai return to pono" video on youtube. aloha...

Boooooo! Matt...you one another big mouth! Everybody is right...gotta stop blaming Walter and Karen..forgot to blame another dumb ass like you. All you La'auans need to get out of the dream world and back to reality. You guys got La'au...now what? What is your plan? You guys are hypocrites!

i'm sorry you have so much anger. i take full responsibility for my participation in the effort to save la`au. i have also been working for 4 years to help find a better solution to the development plan. also, please consider that the insults you give you also put on hundreds of others, including the many kupuna who oppose the development. would you call them "dumb ass hypocrites" too? better we remain positive and find ways to come together to find solutions that work.

This was a good video except I would have edited one sentence that was sad in the beginning. "The most Hawaiian island" which implies that other Hawaiians on the other islands are somehow less Hawaiian.
Other than that the rest of the video was excellent. Except for that one statement in the beginning :)

Good mana'o, but "Most Hawaiian Island" not intended to imply that. Its a nickname given to Molokai by, i hate to say it, the visitor industry. Didn't use it for this reason, though. Used it to reinforce the fact that majority of Molokai residents are Hawaiian, an indicator that Hawaiian culture and values prevail here... unlike other islands where non-Hawaiians and outside values now dominate. Sorry if the choice of words bring offense... but it's not the intention. Mahalo!
