Yeah, what I meant was- you can't make VoIP calls or Skype calls without Wifi without it charging to your cell minutes. I know it's always been a paid service. I am the one who posted all that before as all these folks on here think that they can make free calls with just Fring. I know about SIP, VoIP protocols, but, they don't work or run for free on GSM as it charges to your cell minutes which is why people use WiFi. You need WiFi to do that. I also posted about Fring ties into those services.
So not true. Frig also uses the wide 3G coverage, so with a limitless packet data, you're set to go. Also, the SIP or skypeout service it's ALWAYS been a paid service, fring just supports it, but if you want free SIP calls, go bother skype owners. About it's GUI... ok, they could work it out a little bit better, but as it is its fully operable and a helluva amazing app.
The other thing is that it only works with an internet connection such as WiFI. Without that, you can't do anything with Fring. So, when your not on a hot spot or at home near your wireless router- you are back to GSM cellular use. Plus, the user is required to pay a fee for using SIP, Skype when calling regular land lines and mobiles that are not running one of those services. I find this very limiting. Fring itself needs some work in the GUI as well. IM tab shows and sometimes not.
The thing that they keep saying is free calls. That's not true at all. You have to have Skype out or SIP in order to make any calls. Fring to Fring calls don't work. A programmer friend and I tested this out. I loaded it on my Nokia E71 and he did the same. It did not pick up that we both had Fring. Nor did it support Yahoo IM buddies. Chat only. So, there's no free calls. Only if two parties have the same SIP provider or skype can you make calls for free. Fring alone did not work in our tests.
I can't download it, it requires me to "login" but it has no "register" option... how are you supposed to login without registering first?

I love the freedom of Fring! Thanks. If only the Palestinians had the same access to resources.
