NRA defends response to Newtown massacre

The powerful pro-gun lobby group in the United States has began a full media offensive.

The National Rifle Association is defending its response to the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut that left 26 people dead - including 20 children.

Al Jazeera's John Terrett reports from Washington DC.

Is also learned in another video that there are over 200 gun related deaths each day, that's over 1400 per week. Think about that. Yes I no that the us have about 10x the population of Canada, but we still don't have 140 deaths per week cuz of guns

In Canada there hasn't been a large massacre in years, where as you have had two in a matter of months in aurora Colorado, correct if I'm wrong but I have heard there was another mass shooting in aurora recently and in newtown . FYI in several states no registration or background check is required, this is how the crazies are getting the firepower

"Assault Weapons Ban" - needs to be renewed according to the President. This has been reported multiple times by every major news source, including Al Jazeera, and there are numerous clips where you can see the phrase "Assault Weapons Ban" come out of Obama's face.

Sen. Diane Feinstein (D), the original author of the 1994 assault weapons ban signed by President Clinton into law, has posted a list of provisions in a renewed Assault Weapons Ban that she is planning on proposing to Congress in 2013

I'm going by the data and crimes that gets reported on the local news and compared to the rest of the country in the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune,The Red Eye, and Chicago Defender, not the "data of crimes in Nashville and Memphis" like YOU. What right is being striped? The President isn't talking about a gun ban. The only people talking about banning guns are the conservative pundits who are paid good money to convince you to fear the Democratic Party. There is no gun ban in any serious conversation.

Interestingly... from looking at the data of crime rates, Nashville and Memphis are BOTH worse than Chicago. Have you looked this stuff up, or are you going off some radio talking head who is talking trash about Chicago because he's supposed to remind you that the president is a 'Chicago style gangster', whatever that means.
