@LynxCoding - If he "meant it as a girl" he would have used the word "girl" (Mädchen), don't you think? It would fit in perfectly. But he sings "Mensch" instead. You're free to imagine it with a girl, and you can come up with as many convoluted theories as you want, but I'm afraid that's not what the lyrics actually say.
I don't think Till would be able to make a convincing child's voice, hence the need for a female singer. Till singing the part of the child would make no sense.

@RFC3514 Huh? When a female voice sings "mein Herz schlägt nicht mehr weiter" in conjunction to the lyrics and story of the song, it clearly indicates that a female is singing and thus, it is about a girl, as represented by the female vocals. usually gender-neutral songs are song without an additional gender of vocals (i.e. left purely male) but when Till brung in Khari, he meant it as a girl, but does not use words to directly say so it's part of how the song works together.

@LynxCoding - Well, I've been listening to it for 10 years, so there. Anyway, I didn't realise listening to a song 1000 times made the word "Mensch" suddenly become female. I guess you've encountered some sort of revolutionary new linguistic phenomenon.
As I said before, you're free to imagine a girl (or a boy, or a hermaphrodite), but the lyrics deliberately use gender-neutral words. If you think the author is a genius maybe you should respect his decision.

@RFC3514 Um, the only studio song with Khari Li's (female) voice in it is Spieluhr (I am excluding live performance songs because live performances and studio songs are different). And yeah the Bart Simpson thing is true but you can't compare American TV shows to German industry metal music. Spieluhr is my favourite song of all time I've been listening to it almost everyday for 3 years and it is definitely about a girl but without direct reference to it because Till is genius like that.

@LynxCoding - Replacing "Mensch" with "Mädchen" wouldn't make any difference to the poetry. It's sung by a girl because she's Richard Kruspe's daughter (Khira Li), who has already sung in other Rammstein songs, whenever they need the voice of a child. The singer and the character are different things, and boys are often voiced by women. Bart Simpson, for example, is voiced by Nancy Cartwright in the English version and Sandra Schwittau in the German version.

@RFC3514 Okay, well there is more evidence that it's a girl more than a boy. But Till as a genius poetic he is, does not directly refer to the child as a boy or girl (as you agree to). But he meant it as a girl without directly saying it.
Why are people putting images behind Rammstein's music, images that have nothing to do with the songs themselves? New trend? Stop immediately/
