Originally THE TIMID RABBIT, a 1937 Paul Terry cartoon, what you're watching is a black-market print from Astra TV. This was most likely bootlegged from the circulating Castle Films version of this cartoon.

  • By the way, what was ASTRA TV? Are they still around?

  • @Familygirl17 Astra TV was a sort of black market film pirate/distributor...they copied stuff that was still under copyright or was just laying around. They seem to have only been around in 1953 or so.

I collect this sort of stuff...they're not common but out there if you look hard enough in junk and antique stores!

  • Hey, cartoonsonfilm!

Where did you get this? I bet it was really hard to find.

  • Fuck the rabbits voice

  • What's that song that plays at 6:30?

  • This is indeed a "bootlegged" TV print; I can tell by the stock music Astra used in their opening and closing titles, instead of Philip Scheib's original fanfares. Originally released in November 1937, directed by Mannie Davis, with story by John Foster and music by Scheib.

  • AWESOME =D
