You can still hear this used for Yankees radio broadcasts. When I hear this song - I can still remember sitting on the living room floor as a kid watching a game on WPIX (in the late 80's). I miss those days! I actually have this theme recorded on VHS from WPIX from the '89 season somewhere. ( I miss those games with "The Scooter" Phil Rizzuto, alongside Bill White)

I like any theme song with a banjo.

Remember when the Yanks were on 1010 WINS? I liked that song, too. "When Reggie swings, NewYork wins". I haven't thought about that for years. Great stuff

As a Yankee fan back in the 70s, and remembering watching them with my Dad during the summer of 1977 on WPIX Channel 11, it brings tears to my eyes to hear this theme again. He passed in mid-July 1978. Yankees were 14 out. They came back to win it all. Bucky's 7th inning Home Run will FOREVER be my Dad's loud & clear message to me that he was doing alright, as he always told me the 7th inning was the Yankees' inning.
This is one of the versions they played on WPIX and on 77 WABC radio back in the early to mid 70s.
There was another Yankee instrumental before this one (can't find it anywhere) and another one,
the one you are thinking about. Went something like.. "The Yankees Are Alive" Women singing. :)

Would you believe that was off the top of my head? Well, believe it -- it's true. Brings me back to the memory that lingers in my mind of throwing my TV out the window, through the screen, after a late inning grand slam loss to the Tigers.
Anyway, "Bill" was a reference to when Rizzuto finished reading that disclaimer and said, "Bill..." turning to Bill White to take over the play by play!
I'm Jeff :-)
PS I think I missed "accounts of this game, or any segment" before "thereof".

@stuckonthepike Ahahaah!! I called you Bill!! I just realized it was Bill White! Really, thanks for keeping my Yankee memories alive. YANKEES ARE #1 ALWAYS! The Murcer, White, Munson, Pinella years were my favorite!

Thanks for the upload. Brings back great memories. Will always love the Scooter. I used to listen to night games during the school year by putting a radio under my pillow and hoping my parents wouldn't catch me!
