Heavens to Betsy was a [two-piece] American indie-punk band from Olympia, Washington, most notable for being the first band of Sleater-Kinney vocalist/guitarist Corin Tucker.
The members were Tracy Sawyer on drums and occasionally bass guitar, and Corin Tucker on guitar and vocals.

This song is from a KRS singles compilation. I have a live version too, but the quality is a lot lesser. I didn't see this up here and I've always felt it to be one of their better songs. Happy eastur sundae everyone.

  • @ repliers: I have a couple random Heavens to Betsy split singles, EPs, and compilation tracks I could see about putting up if people are interested. I have the These Monsters EP ripped to my computer. I have a split w/ Bratmobile or Cold Cold Hearts (I think the former), but I forget which song is on it. And then I have some live stuff too. This seems to be far and away the most popular upload out of all of my random stuff... so if there's interest for more, I have a little bit.. maybe.

  • next, you need to post S-K's version of More than a Feeling from the Cassavetes soundtrack. I cannot find my copy (on CD) ! ! ! !

  • @lewlew00 Posted it. :) It's from some comp. I had, though... not to doubt it's on the Cassavetes soundtrack because I wouldn't know for sure one way or another. hope you enjoy.

  • @godFlintstone sorry i didnt know you had a few different posts. 'more than a feeling', 'you aint it', and 'write me back fucker' are all on the move into the villa compilation. firefly is on the monsters EP and the cd in the video. (i completely forgot i had that song on vinyl) 'you aint it' is also on a single with the surf song.

unrelated to the conversation, going through my vinyl singles i just noticed i have one with S-K 'big big lights' backed with a band called cypher in the snow

  • @gilligan07734 ahh no problem man, youtube's layout confuses the hell outta me...

That's badass! another vinyl enthusist. What's the vinyl for Big Big Lights w/ the other band called? Or what label was it put out on?

The villa comp., I have all of the S-K songs from it. I've heard of that comp before. I have all 3 though, so if You Ain't It or Write Me Back Fucker aren't on here, I can upload those too... i'll dig 'round. Firefly I have a live copy of too, if anyone wants to hear? no video.

  • the 1990s....what a time.

  • ohhh, man. this song is just perfect. thanks for putting it up! <3

  • NOT INDIE!

  • This should have been the theme song to the canceled Joss Whedon television show.

  • @gilligan07734 which song?? I'm getting confused here I think. Not Firefly, right?

I think Firefly was originally on the These Monsters Are Real EP. I forgot about that when I first posted this. But this is much higher quality than the vinyl rip I have from my copy... so there's no point in posting my own vinyl rip from the TMAR ep.

Were you talking about a different song? I'm not good at navigating youtube comments. lol

  • @godFlintstone its on "move into the villa villa kula" along with 2 other S-K songs that arent on anything else. there is a couple other songs and spoken word tracks that are decent on their also.

  • A bug, GET IT! A bug, KILL IT!
