1986 Recording
With the orchestra of St. Martin in the Fields
Conductor: Neville Marriner
with the Ambrosian Singers.

The English titles are largely the words of Adrian Ross.

den jungen Jägersmann;

Vilja, o Vilja, was tust du mir an?

Und zog ihn hinein in ihr felsiges Haus;
Dem Burschen die Sinne vergangen fast sind,
So liebt und so küßt gar kein irdisches Kind.
Als sie sich dann sattgeküßt verschwand
sie zu derselben Frist!
Einmal noch hat der Arme sie gegrüßt:

  • Thank you so much BazzasBest for spending the time and effort creating the above. I first got to know of Lucia Popp's rendition when I bought the "Best loved Classics" classical pieces compilation of EMI (Volume 12). And since then this version has enchanted me and been my first choice. I can never get tired listening to it.
