The new IBM Point-of-Sale cash registers that are here at the new store location to replace the old IBM POS system that were still running DOS (and to replace the old server that was still running Win2000). Actually, only the top part of the register (the monitor, printer, and keyboard) are IBM, the PC underneath the counter is actually HP and had 2 GB of RAM. Apparently the server for the system runs on a combination of Windows 7 Professional (this server is replacing the Win2000 server and does the same thing the old server did, which involves hosting the POS stock application, the app that keeps track of what's in stock (seen running briefly in my Windows 98 vid) and another server running "Windows Server 2008" (which is based on Vista) and it acts as a server for the cash register POS app (that handle credit card logs etc)
The cash register is running "Windows Embedded POS Ready 2009" which in reality is just fancy version of Windows XP Professional with built-in drivers made specifically for point of sale systems. But it operates like a regular Windows XP PC and act like a normal desktop computer that just happens to have an POS app on it. It has full access to the internet which is kind've a bad thing because when we had the old PC's the employees downloaded crap to them and they always had a virus. I will make a thorough video showing the entire system set up in the store and offices.
Facebook on a Cash Register...That should be a new YouTube series, go to Facebook on random items, like ATMs, cash registers, and fareboxes at train stations
