Here is 6 1/2 minutes of me acting silly and talking with my human. (This is not the famous "Einstein" that was featured on the TV show Animal Planet Pet Stars. The only things they have in common is the name, good looks, and the desire to entertain humans!)

  • Can they learn that any object had a name? Like does he associate words with meaning or does he associate reaction to reaction?

  • @Lizardwoman311 They most definitely associate items with words. I have video of her drinking from a faucet and saying water. It isn't posted yet... on my to do list! :) Another African Grey named Alex was known to do the word association very well, watch this: youtube.com/watch?v=R6KvPN_Wt8I

  • wait so the woman on pet star with a parrot named enstein wasn't you

  • @pink4life334 That's right! Different parrot, different girl. Einstein is our parrot companion and lives in our home in Texas. The other one lives at the Knoxville, TN Zoo and performs daily bird shows.

  • Have you ever gone on Pet Star with her? Because I think she would win :)

  • @PinkZazki No, never been on Pet Star and no plans to do so. Einstein is shy in front of a live audience. She loves to perform for her family and the camera! So happy you enjoy Einstein!

  • @kingdiamondara Generally speaking, larger parrots are thought to have an intelligence that rivals a 2-3 year old child. While most of their "speech" is just repeating the sounds they hear, if someone spends time with their bird, they can understand that certain items are identified by specific words.

  • This bird is SO adorable!! I totally LOVE it!!!

I have a question tho..... Can they actually communicate with you? Meaning, do they understand what you're saying to them and do they understand you? Or do they just repeat the words they've heard you say?
