Isabel Sanford created the role of Louise Jefferson in 1971 on the classic comedy series "All in the Family." In 1975, she landed the starring role in her own spin-off series, the long-running "The Jeffersons." Isabel talked with Brad Lemack about her misgivings about leaving Norman Lear's hit show in this clip from a 1992 interview now playing on RerunIt.com.

Three compete interview segments can be viewed on-demand at RerunIt.com, a Web site celebrating American pop culture.

Some things are worth repeating.

  • I was with Isabel at that Boston taping. In fact, I booked her to do it. It was a great time for her and, and as you saw on the DVD, a fun show to watch. She didn't discuss that project in our interview or in the manuscript of her memoir (there were literally hundreds of these appearances done over the years), but she was in awe of the history that Faneuil Hall stands for and delighted to work with pals Barbara Eden, Tony Randall and John Davidson again.

  • Glad you enjoyed it,. You can see three full segments from the original interview at RerunIt.com ... as for the book, we were working on the autobiography when Ms. Sanford died. It remains uncompleted for now. I am not sure if there is enough of an interest currently for a publisher to want to take on the project. I am happy to complete it if that happens. For now, it's "on hold."

  • she looks beautiful and happy long live isabelle

  • Omg...his hair...and she looks like she's falling sick.

  • What a wonderful talent & actress! We miss you, Isabel!

R.I.P., Ms. Sanford...1917-2004. You gave Louise "Weezy" Jefferson dignity & class!

  • I always thought "Jeffersons" would've been a sort of launching pad for her..perhaps been the Whoopi Goldberg of her time...

  • I wish her career had gone farther ...from "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" to "All in the Family" and obviously "The Jeffersons"..she was a tough, smart no

frills braud- with CLASS. Women of her stature were always difficult to place in Hollywood- atypical, black, way ahead of her time and at the top of her game. We miss you, Girl!!

  • Did Isabel Sanford mention doing the TV Special "The Great American Quiz Show" with Barbara Eden,Tony Randall,Marc price and John Davidson in Fanueil Hall in Boston in her book? We have a friend who has a DVD of the special and it is so Great.Isabel and her co stars answer true and false questions about the US Constitution.Isabel said in the show she used to be a school teacher and John Davidson asked where you really and Isabel said No though i thought it would be nice to mention.

  • thanks brad for putting this on here....i still miss her to this day....btw...you may not remember me but i had emailed you 2 or 3 times since Ms. Sanford's in regards to her autobiography....Will it be released ever or not? I am in hoping that it will be.
