  • yo does this really work?

  • @555bigbadwolf Yeah, it really works, assuming you don't have another more pressing issue with the box. I'll be the first one to say that it's definitely not a permanent fix, but will get you a few months. If the problem occurs again you can repeat the process. Eventually, after months, it will die and you'll have to replace it. But if you're trying to get through till pay day or make it a few months it will do just fine. I'm not a sadistic weirdo who enjoys getting people to nuke their Xbox.

  • @555bigbadwolf Just make sure that you wrap it a jacket so it gets hot but still can get air. If it doesn't get air it's like putting your hand on the back of a hair dryer, it will just turn off in a minute or two. Ideally the whole process should take 10-15 minutes. Use towels or a big jacket.

  • I love it when people leave complaints on years old videos that have been raised 10 times already as if they're the first person to raise that specific point. Clearly that fix is intended to be a quick "damn, I need to finish this clan match and go to GameStop tomorrow" solution-- and clearly it's meant for people who have surpassed the warranty timelines or voided it altogether by modifying or opening their console.

At least read through one page of comments before you leave a tired, played o

  • Because people like @jerpritch1 need to be walked through life, I would like to point out that this IS A TEMPORARY FIX. Do not waste your time paying someone to fix your Xbox, in time that will break too. Nothing is permanent. We're talking about a product that you can walk into any Best Buy and get for less than $200 USD. Buy the warranty, take it back at the first sign of trouble. Done it 4 times now myself. Thus endith the sermon.

  • WRONG !!!!

Overheating it allows higher voltage through the capacitors which blows the transistors which = 2 week fix at best.

    You are an idiot.

  • @jerpritch1 I may not be doing it in a way you approve of, but I'm certainly not wrong. If you took the time to read anyone's comments but your own you'd see I noted that it worked for about 2 months before I had to replace the unit-- but I suppose that would require additional effort and reading on your part. It's simply a bandage for those addicted gamers who need to get an extra bit of uptime until pay day or they can replace the unit. But thanks for digital circuitry 101.
