Close up pictures of faces is not the best way to see the advantages of Blu-Ray over an upscaled DVD. The quality of the Blu-Ray also depends on what type of compression is being used. The first release of The 5th Element on Blu-Ray got hammered by reviewers, because of how poor the conversion was. The 2nd edition of the movie on Blu-Ray is just stunning, with vivid colors and crisp picture quality during scenes with a lot of movement.

@donniedarkodevotte Are you using hdmi cause you can defiantly notice a differences unless u have one of those really old hd tvs that are really dark and came out around 2005 2006

I like how people use the blue ray to say ps3 is the best console but i have a blue ray player and a xbox it still cost me less than a ps3 with a good amount of hardrive space

The difference between the picture quality of DVDs and Blu-rays should be as staggering as the difference between the picture quality of VHS and DVD, but it's not. I've seen a few Blu-rays that I was impressed with, but for the most part, it's hard to tell the difference. You have to have a top of the line television to get the most out of Blu-ray. You shouldn't have to, though. You didn't have to when DVDs came out. I'll stick with my DVDs until holographic home movies come out. : /

Wow, "Monsters Inc." looks worse than today's PC video game graphics in HD. Technology has progressed so much since 2002!
Yes, we can see more of his wrinkles, great :P
