Onimaru/Arashi ga oka [Japanese Wuthering Heights-1988]

Onimaru[Heathcliff] and Kinu[Cathy] meet. I don't know what the mirror symbolizes,but it figures throughout the entire film. Kabuki and bad special effects aside,this is an amazing piece of work.Sad that the actor who plays Onimaru died right after this was made,and like Heathcliff,he was only thirty nine.

I purchased it from Japanese Amazon.I heard about it forever but never knew how to get it until following a link from IMDB. I am willing to put up more clips if anyone is interested,it's just hard to find any that aren't gruesome,X-rated or too distracting VIA bad hair.those three things aside,it's more faithful to the book than some versions I've seen!

subtitling japanese programs is my hobby...if you want to rip it and help with encoding (i can walk you through the process) i wouldn't mind trying to do english subs. i'm a fan of wuthering heights, so this might be something i'd be interested in working on.

I saw the film on SBS in the 1990s. I'm not sure that this is anything at all like Wuthering Heights.
