Dude, if you have an original E30 M3, don`t rebuild it. Leave her as she is. It`s a classic sports car with great history and with excellent racing pedigree. Don`t destroy it with rebuilds. Better buy another E30 and put in an M30.

Best engine that you can put in E30. Simply undestructable. Solid piece of cast iron. And excellent torque. Yes, a 4.0 or 4.4litre V8 is more powerful but it isn`t so tough as m30. I think that a m30 has a best price/performance ratio.
In my country you can easily buy an M30 in good condition with gearbox and wiring for about 300-350$.

@tajsuri why not keep the s14 from the M3? You can plug the M30 engine from the 535i into something like a 318is instead.

@penner08252 Damals II, da das fahrzeug nun aber im Motorsport verwendet wird, ist es nun 4, also Stehwand massiv versetzt. Ich würde jedoch aus eigener Erfahrung nur zu Position 3 raten, der e30 ist sonst zu Kopflastig. Leider sind wir nicht mehr dazu gekommen, den Verlauf zu dokumentieren, deswegen greife ich mal auf das Material eines anderen Nutzers zurück. Is the engine out of a 5 series, I have a e30 m3 and would like to fit a e34 535i engine

@tajsuri No, we got the engine from a 7 series e32 735i and change the oil pan. the oil pan is from a e34 535i. There should be no Prolems, if you take the engine from a 535i.
