What I mean so say is the Martikan has a noticeably smooth style of paddling. He really likes to smoothly carve the boat through the turn, while many others throw it in full speed, stop almost completely, pivot sharply and then do the exit stroke. Yes there is a difference in on-side/off-side, but an on-side turn can still be smooth, and drawn out. Amazing skill and style with both paddlers tough! I have learned a lot watching this video (and practicing later of course).

I believe on of there major differences is simply down to the side they paddle on, as was previously mentioned they both have different styles of taking the gate after the drop, down to it being on Martikan's off side and Dave Florences on side

I think there is one major difference between their paddling styles. Just compare 0:57 for Florence, and 2:55 for Martikan. Both come out of the drop with great speed, but the difference is how each uses it. Florence comes in at a more straight approach, and then does a sharp pivot. Martikan uses a wider approach and a bigger turning radius that allows him to maintain speed throughout the upstream. Martikans experience definitely shows here.
Martikan all the way!!!!

martikan is the best
