This is Salem the day he came home after getting fixed and declawed (February 6, 2008). He acted just like his old self :) He was about 4 and a half months old in this video.

  • Cats aren't just your toys - they're living beings and to have 'undesired' parts of their bodies removed is just awful.

Figures that the USA is one of the few 'civilised' places where it's still legal. Cats experience great pleasure from kneading and stretching and sharpening their nails on trees and such when outside - congratulations, you robbed the animal of it.

  • @CandyCrayon91 My cats knead all the time, and still scratch on things. They just don't do any damage when they do. If you feel the need to gripe about someone getting claws removed, at least go after the ones that declaw on all 4 paws. I think that's wrong. They at least need the back claws for traction when jumping, and for scratching itches. Mine don't need their front claws, they live inside and have nothing like trees to climb. If they want to go higher, they get on the cabinets.

  • He may be fine now, but that'll change soon enough.

Many declawed cats end up in the pound because due to litterbox avoidance - i.e., peeing all over the place except in the litterbox.

There's a reason why declawing has been banned in -many- countries, including the one I live in (The Netherlands).

  • No. I have two other cats (ages 5 and 6) who are declawed as well and they have never once peed outside the litter box. Your logic makes no sense. They pee outside the box because their owner doesn't clean it often enough, or because they're marking their territory, not because they don't have front claws. Get your facts straight next time you post a rant on someone's video. All three of my cats are perfectly happy, healthy kitties who are well loved. I would never take them to the pound.

  • Also, cats that still have their claws are just as likely to pee outside of their box as declawed cats. So thanks for your concern, but it's not necessary.

  • His eyes are beautiful

  • Thanks =) He had pretty blue/green eyes when I got him as a tiny baby. I had no clue what color they'd change into. Such a rich golden yellow. You can see his eyes really well in my video "Cat and rabbit, best friends forever."

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • @cutestuff2k There's a reason it's banned in all the other civilised countries - in my opinion, the USA is the least civilised part of the western world.

They very muchly do need their claws, otherwise they wouldn't have them. But then again, you're American. Apparantly it's normal there to force your pet into all kinds of procedures to alter it to your view of perfection. I'd never want to go live in a country so full of bigots.

  • Soo Cute o.O
