@treesnap1 They are a lot closer than NASA. Dragon is the only capsule ever created that can return from Mars. Its heat shield can withstand 55k re-entry (the speed you would be going coming back from Mars). Shuttle could only return at 17K and the Saturn command service module 27K. Falcon Heavy can take Dragon beyond LEO and as of 2013 will be the heaviest lifting existing rocket on Earth able to life more than double of what Shuttle could lift.
