How to Make Transparent Background in Paint.Net

This is how to make the background of an image transparent using Paint.Net. Paint.Net is a freeware and has features which are close to that in Photoshop.
Here are the steps:
1. Launch Paint.Net
2. Open your file by clicking the Open folder icon, or by going to File - Open, or CTRL + O, then browse for the image to edit.
3. Choose the Magic Wand tool from the Tools window. (If Tools window is not visible, press F5)
4. Click on the background then press the Del key (delete button) on your keyboard.
5. Save your image as PNG file. Go to File -Save as, or CTRL + Shift + S
Choose PNG (*.png) from the drop-down menu in Save type as
That's it.

@DecentVibezz I think it won't work for Youtube profile pic. Try resizing your pic by exact dimensions, say 88x8 pixels or 800x800 pixels, if u don't want unnecessary black (or is it white??) background in your profile pic (does that make sense?)

I did this and it worked, but it also cuts out part of the picture I intended to keep. How do you keep from doing that? Eraser tool?

@coffeebean41 you may try that and also adjust the tolerance level or use the lasso select.
