  • Why doesn't the Government just spend less - fire all the worthless bureaucrats, pay Police the average wage...Who needs all these silly laws anyway?

  • Why no raise the GST from 12.5% to 17.5% - consumption taxes are fairer as the 'wealthy' purchase/consume more. The lower & mid-low income earners get huge relief from various benefits (DPB/sickness/invalids/accommodation supplement/Working For Families). Raising income or asset taxes encourages people to move to what they perceive as better economies like Australia.

  • Didn't they introduce some indexing on tax thresholds?

  • GST GST GST....everyone pays.

  • i think you said 2014 but it may have been 2040.. does anyone know for sure.. 2014 makes the most sense.. NZ has already been bankrupt before i guess it's easier the second time..

  • They will get to pay plenty of carbon taxes in Kiwiland. The poor and the middle class(if there any left) will pay most of their money just to live. Dump the POHMS and start over.
