Sao Paolo supporter killed by a police officer !

A Sao Paulo fan who was shot by police during violent confrontations during the final round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, died in hospital on Thursday.

Nilton Cesar de Jesus, 26, had travelled from the city of Sao Paulo to attend his team's decisive clash with Goias in Gama on Sunday, but he didn't manage to enter the stadium, neither did he witness his team claim the championship for a record sixth time.

During violent confrontations on the street, as the fans made their way to the stadium prior to the match, Nilton Cesar de Jesus was blown away by a gunshot to the neck.

The local authorities revealed that he was shot by sergeant Jose Luiz Carvalho Barreto, who was responsible for the security of fans outside of the stadium.

Nilton Cesar de Jesus was rushed to a hospital in Brasilia, where he remained in a coma until earlier today, when he was pronounced dead.

Sergeant Carvalho Barreto, who could be accused of murder, will be detained until next Monday, in order to give the authorities sufficient time to decide whether he is guilty or not.
