"ちょっとそこのお姉さん!" could be translated as "excuse me, miss!" (from my dictionary) ...hope this helps
お姉さん doesn't have any sexual meanings, but "if" some japanese says it does, then, you can call them "hentai".

sorry, it should've been "onna no ko (女の子) - the girl" instead of "jyosei - the lady"...
anyway, "jyosei" means an a lady (an adult, normally i don't use it for children), and you probably use it in a formal situation. and the same applies to 男 and 男性.
if you say: "あの おんな は だれ?"
it sounds like: "who's that chick?" (if my english is correct)
it could be acceptable among friends, but depends on a context as always. i suppose being polite is always safer

Thanks very much! I just watched the response and I'm looking forward to lesson #2!

You have good ears. Your pronunciation is great.
referring to the question 9, using "jyosei" is preferable to "onna".
"onna" sounds impolite or a bit sexist(?) in this question, and its answer, which i think, would be:
ki no shita ni iru jyosei wo shitte imasu ka?
きのしたにいるじょせいをしっていますか?
by the way, i really liked your pronunciation and the way you speak.
i mean pronunciation is perfect, and you speak calm, which is so relaxing (or some japanese girls could say cute)

Aah, thanks. I didn't realize. I am new to using 女性 but not sure when to use it instead of 女, I guess this would be one case. Is it the same for 男 and 男性?
Ah! And on a related matter.... I've heard men refer to women as お姉さん. Does that have a similar sexist connotation? I've been trying to figure out it's English equivalent. Thanks very much! (for the compliment too)
