Jonathan Miller reports:

"Deadly clashes continue across Kenya - at least ten people reported killed as police fire on opposition protestors for a second day.

Yesterday, Channel 4 News aired pictures of paramilitary police firing live rounds at protestors in Kisumu, Odinga's hometown, in western Kenya. Four people were shot dead here.

Today, the opposition leader showed journalists footage of the same incident. He accused police of shooting dead seven more people today, three in Kisumu. They're turning Kenya, he said, into the killing fields of the innocent.

"Under the orders of the government, the police are executing innocent citizens at will while the world watches and talks about dialogue. How do you dialogue with killers and thieves?" - Raila Odinga

While the government now stands accused of operating a deliberate shoot-to-kill policy, the politicians in Nairobi continue to slug it out - accusing each other of pre-planning the mayhem as they condemn their nation to more violence, misery and displacement. The outside world looks on, having thus far proved hopelessly unable to mediate."

  • kibaki don't care bout them people

    they dien couse him

  • Nothing much will even even if Raila takes over power

  • i am with you. you are honest.

i also think that its time that the electoral commision of Kenya invested in technological aspects to tally the votes and count the votes such that by all means in future, results are announced within 24 hours.

  • i understand you completely. Infact i think that you are a level headed Kenyan i presume. Raila also has a reputation to guard yet at the sametime Kibaki feels that backing down will have put all his supporters at a low....a betrayal. So i think its important that they soften up....and work on the constitution to prevent future mistakes. Had they ammended it before the elections nothing like this would have happened. Forget the referendum!!

  • You imply that i think Kikuyos were rightfully killed - that is untrue. I do argue that western Kenya has been neglected for a long time, and their anger is understandable since this election and raila was perceived as a gate to a better future.Like you said; what goes round comes round. Now Raila can't back down even if he wanted to, or he'd be the first to hang. Demonstrations should've been allowed to in peaceful forms, the police had better business securing the situation in unsafe areas.

  • Yes I agree, Fantalbo, a rerun is probably pointless in an environment where no kikuyo or any kibaki sympathizer would dare vote. I never said Kibaky didn't steal votes, you might have misunderstood me there. The EU observers said though, that there were stark irregularities in the election, but you know they also said those irregularities went both ways.

  • A recount is bulshit....coz they have finnished altering all papers. A rerun is also bulshit coz Kibaki will argue that his supporters have been ejected and displaced so a rerun would just be a sheer victory. But what goes round comes rounder. Before that 1994 Rwanda Genocide. Ask yourself...why they had so much anger. What had happenned in 1959???.....what goes round comes round. Do you read me?

  • Truth is that Kibaki stole the votes!!! Thats the truth and you cant argue about that. But this part of killing Kikuyus like they are the ones who stole is Bulshit!! Raila is a human being. a human being can make mistakes. Does that mean that should Raila ever make a mistake all luos should be Killed???....Answer me Lonnjohan. Answer me!
