  • Thaks great info. How much will it cost and does it have the ratios for small wheel bikes like the Moultons?

  • @tomterahedrob The cost will depend on volume, so it will drop as it becomes more widely used. It will be featured in higher end products first as an OEM replacement for other transmissions, but the goal is $500-$900 as a stand-alone, standardized product. The 3X top ratio will be good for small wheel vehicles without a need for huge front sprockets.

  • I heard a chain is 98% efficient.How efficient is this?

  • @tomterahedrob You heard right...kinda. A clean, freshly lubed, well-aligned chain drive is 98% efficient. Derailleurs drop that efficiency down by 3-6 points by deliberately misaligning the chain for most ratios. The SIVAT gear combinations figure about 94% efficiency, dropping down to 88% in very low ratios. A more important consideration is the ergonomic effect of regulated cadence resulting from pedaling in the best ratios; 85-95 rpm being optimal for most riders.

  • watch ``Mihov Bojan bicycle reverse driving``

  • @mrmihov85 As a teenager, I'd race a friend around the block riding like that! We'd go all out on speed & do many laps, scaring automobile drivers. It was fun! Thanx for the memories.
