  • I promise you these signs dont work. People in America are STUPID! Florida has eletronic signs that clearly state when lanes are closed and where and people STILL continue to drive in those lanes RIGHT up to the accident and then decide to squeeze over

  • Some guy who manufactures overhead signs lobbied hard for this project.

  • STEPHEN CARL MURPHY

  • @shinmawa didn't mean to Vote Down - won't let me change. Sorry.

  • @andotech Wouldn't change a thing. Statistically, the percentage of drivers who are the cause of more than one accident per year is actually extremely low.

  • There's something fundamentally wrong with people's driving around here. Thus far I've seen people do these things while driving talk on the phone, text/play games, eat breatfast, eat lunch with time to add ketchup, make up with all sorts of stuff, change shirts, floss with both hands off the wheel... the list goes on. ALL of this on I-5 during my vanpool commute. :S Also see single seat occupant vehicles on the HOV lanes. I think there are a couple of other things that can be done to avoid acc.

  • Maybe if Washington DRIVERS would just learn how to DRIVE and quit breaking all the time just cause they saw a deer on the side of the road, the MAYBE ACCIDENTS wouldnt happen. OH I forgot Washington drivers are not used to Heavy traffic. So this will help washington drivers be slower drivers and make corporations like Boeing leave cause the pace is to damn slow.. Give me a break...

  • Great idea to use here in Seattle like they do in Europe.

  • WE HAD THIS MONEY TO SPEND??!!??

    Financial Information

The I-5 Active Traffic Management project is funded as part of WSDOT's Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement project. * Available funding for preliminary engineering: $2 million. * Available funding for construction: $21.8 million Total available funding: $23.8 million

  • Very good idea!! that would be good for urban areas where roads and highways in some cases are heavily congested. That would be good for metropolitan areas like Boston. Those roads and highways in that area are worst when it comes to traffic congestion.
