Harpy Eagle

This is the 2nd biggest eagle in the entire world, and it's @ the Belize Zoo.
His name is Panama, and my friends are in the cage with him, feeding him.

@geckosandreps1 You might want to do a little more research. Merely being an American doesn't make you right. I am an American who spent 6 years in Central America and I can say for sure as someone who has seen both the Harpy and the Bald Eagle (not to mention I back up my claim with research) the Harpy is the largest Raptor in this hemisphere (the Americas).

By the way Pythons are among the most common snakes found in Philippine forest chances are it's not the only one incident and besides Philippine eagle is related to serpent eagles according to the latest DNA analysis. It regularly take snakes for prey.

Prey items:

monkeys, flying lemurs, civet, large birds, large snakes, monitor lizards, young owls, hawks, giant cloud rat, small dogs and pigs.

hork111, About the large python actually it's documented, Most likely It attacked the python clinging on a tree w/c the eagle has the advantage (coz NO eagle specie could possibly win or will attack a python on the ground!)...

Don't forget the Crowned Eagle of the African savannahs. It's a large robust raptor right up there with the Harpy and the Philippine. Also Wallacetic IMO it would be sheer suicide for ANY eagle to attack a full-grown Reticulated Python. Are you nuts? Please list reliable sources that document such an attack.

Nevertheless These two eagles are considered to be the Largest and most powerful eagles on the planet.

Harpy has the longest hind talon and Philippine eagle has the longest legs and claws with a larger bill and skull than Harpy eagle.

the philippine eagle's legs are longer then the harpy eagle, but a harpy eagle still has the largest talons of any other eagle. the back claw of a harpy can exceed 5 in. the harpy, might be the bulkiest among the eagles.
