Look at history ? Then you're saying ALL white people's families owned slaves back in the day. Even then, you're saying that white people now are no different from the ancestors hundreds of years ago. Let's say that your great great great granpa punched my great great great granpa in the face. Am I supposed to hate you for something you didn't do, but you're great great great granpa did ?

It's not just job discrimination that's happening in South Africa, there is also out-and-out racial genocide. Innocent men, women, and children are being raped, tortured, mutilated, and slaughtered simply because of the color of their skin. But of course, they are not black, so nobody cares. It's sickening. Racism goes BOTH ways.

You don't know anything about Affirmative Action. Affirmative Action actually helped White Women. AA is for all minorities---women (irregardless of race), racial groups, religious groups. Secondly, the reason why AA is around is not a babying...racism is very much still institutionalized. Why does race matter? If race is not a big deal--then don't call them Black? If race doesn't matter---then title use of Black/White which is race titles using color shouldn't be used.

Bingo !

do you call black people in Canada, african-canadian?

LOVE YOU for your courage and intelligence!

Canada will be indicted for murdering aboriginal children in the Indian residential schools. Do a google search on “Hidden from History” or “Canada’s hidden holocaust”. Know your country before calling yourself a proud Canadian. I call my self an Indian because I am proud to be an Indian!

You should educate yourself on this topic before you speak on it!

well i don't know about the idians, or the african-americans, or the hispanic-americans, or whatever the heck you guys say is "politically correct". like anyone else who is legal in the U.S., i'm an american, don't you think it's time we stop making everyone in the country label ourselves as hispanic-american, or african-american, or idian-american, or whatever other BS they come up with?! Yes, we should always be proud of our ethnic heritage! But should we not also be proud of our nationality?

I think that in a democracy people should have the right to express their views.
Even though I don't agree (at least totally) with this guy, I will always defend his right to express his views. I think that the PR bulshit where people can't say what they think yet still go on acting in prejudiced ways is much more damaging than putting your ideas on the table for people to debate its merits (or their lack of merits).
My view? Education starts at home. Good families raise good people.

Affirmative action is from 30 years ago... Managing diversity (and that's more than a racial, gender, and disabilty standpoint) is more common now. As for the question, I have noticed it seems to be perfectly OK for a black comic to say some REALLY mean things about whites, and it's seemingly OK, but if a white person tells a black person "oops, your shoelace is untied", it's somehow racism. ("You're only telling me my shoelace is untied because I'm black.")

I don't think this guy was racist, but I don't think he got it either. I'm not saying I support affirmative action, but I've heard the arguments, and it's a lot more complex than "politically correct racism." And "what's done is done." is not the point. It's not about the past.
Why waste your time on this subject?
Its human nature to pre-judge .
Move on folks.

racism and prejudice, are in my opinion, different things. One is the irrational hate of a race and the other is judging someone based on skin color. One involves hate, regardless of the facts and the other involves temporary judgment of someone based on race (and usually due to an association between race and culture).
