This video demonstrates the performance between a sand filter using a standard lateral assembly and the Xtreme BioFilter using our specially re-engineered diffuser column. Many people think that converting a sand filter to a bio mechanical filter such as our Xtreme BioFilters via just replacing the sand with a "bio media" material. It's not that simple. As you'd seen here, the sand filter lateral assembly is not suitable for this operation.
In backwash mode, the bio media in the sand filter float upward to the top of the filter, clog the exit, reduce the water flow through the filter, thus produce little agiatation, render the backwash ineffective. Our Xtreme Refit Kits are available for these conversions. Further details, visit our web site at www.seagatefilters.com.
