Activity has declined considerably since late August at the bald-faced hornet's nest in my parent's backyard crab apple tree, but there are still a fair number of comings and goings. It's not ready for collection just yet! The nest is now at the peak size it will achieve, although at least one worker appears to still be doing some construction work around the entrance hole.

  • @tornadoes14 Bald-faced hornets are strictly predators on other insects. They were probably waiting to ambush some flies that came to eat the poop.
