One thing that this video omits is that the numbers on the bottom of products are not usually specific enough. For example it is possible to have two products made from 1-PET that have two different melting points. As separate piles these have much higher market value because mixing plastics randomly can reduce strength, and the companies buying the waste want consistency above all else. Separated PET and HDPE bottles (with no caps) have the highest market value in most parts of the world.
