I thought I would try putting the website link first this time. I was very happy to make this video since I don't often see tapered roller bearings anymore. This video shows the step by step process of removing tapered roller bearings, cleaning them, and repacking them. I have thrown in a few tips and tricks that I hope will make the job easier and given you a list of tools that you will need to get this job done. I hope you have as much fun watching this video as I did making it.

You can visit me at the web address link at the top of this description.

  • Is that a special grease? Can you use lithium grease like that for lubing a chasis? Also was that a zerc fitting on the top of that bearing greaser? Thanks, great videos.

  • @MrCarlosCruz1 No you can NOT use lithium grease for this, normally you use axle grease. Good luck and thanks for the comment.

  • You saved me today. Thanks!

  • @shanemaura I'm happy to help, thanks for the comment.

  • Hey Eric, I have an O6 Ford Ranger and today I noticed that when I drive at speeds of about 15mph or under I can hear a chirping noise. then above 15mph it stops. I am thinking it has to do with something at the wheels. Like it is a brake wear indicator. the thing is that I recently checked my brakes and they seemed almost new. what could be making the noise?

  • @13FravelJ Check the brakes but also check for rocks in the tire treads.

  • never ever, ever, ever, crimp off a brake hose! It has a inner liner. when you crimp it off like you did. You can break that liner and cause it to act like a check valve. It will let fluid past when you press the pedal, but not let fluid back thus locking the caliper up. I am an ASE certified technician too.

  • @MrCarlosCruz1 says on the tube of lithium based grease you can , and the bloke in the shop said :S

  • MONTY PYTHON!

  • Excellent video. Another way to manually pack grease into the tapered bearing is to put blob of grease into palm of hand and slap wide side of bearing into blob until grease gets pushed out the narrow end of the cage, rotate and repeat until bearing is fully loaded. Disposable gloves are good.

  • Thank you so much! Very well done and helpful!

  • i am planing on replacing the bearings anyway, but when i go about 40 the front tires shake like there having a seizure, is that the bearings? or am i going to have to replace something else, BTW that packing tool is $24 at advance auto .com

  • 16:15 I FART IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION!!

  • I HAVE A PROBLEM!! and am in need of advice. i have a wheel bearing that got shredded inside the hub of the rotor. so all thats left is the inner part of the bearing(race) and the tapred bearings. that inner race part is stuck on the spindle how can i get it off?? i heard chisle, or torch?
