Lucinda is a poet first. She sits at the table with Townes Van Zandt, Dylan, Steve Earle, Blaze Foley and John Prine. All great writers and poets.

Citing the Grammys as being a source of legitimate critical review is laughable at best considering the many artists over the years that have boycott it as a marketing tool. The Grammys are an industry insider circlejerk for those whom the labels wish to promote; I doubt Lucinda will ever be a commercial goddess for the label execs and I like her better that way. The Grammys are for manufactured artists and may as well be the equivalent of going to a trophy store and buying yourself a trophy.

Yeah, Bonnie Raitt has only won 10 Grammys. I'm sure the voters for those are far less musically knowledgeable as you.

Sorry, but Bonnie Overaitted is nowhere near the same league as these other song writers. And while we're on the subject, Gene Clark has to be included as a great American song writer...

Don't forget Patty Griffin and Bonnie Raitt, among others.

This song could've been written about my high school band director. He was the most important teacher I ever had. The first rock band I was ever in was one he started with me & other kids in high school. He committed suicide five years after I graduated.
