@writergrrl92 I usually dont put myself higher then anyone else nor do I think anyone should but everyones a hypocrite one time or another. Sorry, I shouldnt have put my opinion higher than yours just becuase Im a song writer. It doesnt matter if I am or not, nobody has the right to tell anybody else what is right or wrong in any situation whether your the president or not. I still think resolver is the softest and I have differnt reasons but it really doesnt matter. Sorry for wasting your time

@VaultMusic105 Ah, the whole, "I'm a writer thing". It all makes sense. Right, so your saying that this whole little discussion is my fault, right? Well then, let me apologize about having a different opinion. I mean, you are the writer. And all I was talking about was the albums as a whole, not anything technical. Just music.
-
@VaultMusic105 Well you obviously seem to have a sturdy grip the way you view VS and like I said everyones ears and opinions are different, and you have without fail proven that. You think what you wanna think, and I'll stick to what I know.

Yeah I know American Thighs doesnt have that angry, heavy sound that all the other ones do but what american thighs does have is a very grungy, dark, dreamy, progressive 90s sound, kind of like early smashing pumpkins or Catherine. Resolver, on the other hand, is filled with softer ballads like "the same person,Imperfectly,All Dressed Up. And also it has shorter more upbeat songs that arent necessarily heavly like "Best You Can Get" while at the same time using sounds from the other three albums
-
@VaultMusic105 Thats also interesting. I happen to think American Thighs is their softest album because I dont hear any of the hardness thats in their albums to follow. AM to me is their most mellow album all together. Besides, every hard album has a few softer tracks on it. That doesnt necessarily mean the entire album as a whole is soft.

@writergrrl92 Oh, dont get me wrong, there are definantly heavy songs on Eight Arms To Hold You but that album also has some of their softest riffs they have ever made like in the songs Venus Man Trap, Loneliness is Worse, Sound of the Bell, and With David Bowie but I also realize that your kind of right. I change my mind, Resolver is probally their least Heavy album. But I still think IV is their heaviest. All of their albums are heavy though, just some songs are a little less than others.
-
@VaultMusic105 Thats interesting that you think that. Considering the fact that Eight Arms To Hold you is where they got that angry sound to begin with, especially with tracks like "Shutterbug" and "Stoneface". In my opinion, because thats where IV got its sound from, and that was the start of their harder sound, that to me is their heaviest album. What I hear in IV is a more even, more rounded sound.
-
Thats funny, because I actually think Eight Arms To Hold You is their least angry album. When I said they became angrier, I was talking about their newest album, "IV". I mean they have always had a heavy sound(especially Lousie) but IV is by far the Heaviest album they have ever done while throwing alot of creativity and some softer songs in there too and what I was saying in the other comment was that I think most of VS's songs have their own unique sound that is different from the other.
-
@VaultMusic105 Thats true they do sound angrier, and thats only because they used the producer for Metallica for the Eight Arms to Hold You album. And yeah, American Thighs is my favorite album.

I loved the guitar work in this video. There was an extra spice that wasn't on the album version. It was great.

I agree with Etherialshroud, American Thighs is their best album, Although my favorite song is One Last Time and that's on the Eight Arms To Hold You With CD. Their new music is okay but without Nina they're not as strong... :/
