Penn brings a sledge hammer to a knife fight. I haven't read any of Sam Harris' books yet, but it's abundantly clear to me he does not 'believe in' or 'follow' Buddhism in any sense. Harris argues that religious experiences are something we should study instead of dismissing as nonsense. This doesn't mean he believes in the supernatural, indeed, he suggests there are naturalistic explanations for the reported religious experiences. He also practices meditation. Doesn't make him a Buddhist.

Penn. you're not an idiot. when this video was made, I would have agreed that Obama was a religious man. Over the past couple years though, it has been clear that Obama is an agnostic/atheist.

There isn't any big problem with being religious and in office. There is when you begin to bring those religious convictions to policy making and governance. Also, Obama has described his religious upbringing in his books written before he ran for president and has been openly supportive of science in talks and in policy..

Yes, one has to say that he believes in god In order to get elected, certainly to the presidency and probably to most public offices. So yes, I'm guessing that someone as intelligent as Obama is lying about his faith or at least the extent of it. If he didn't tell that lie, he couldn't get elected. And I'll take a fake Christian over a real one any day. At least he's dealing with reality.
