The motor ran up to 19.2 kmh or 12mph on a 12.3' Springbok aluminium open hull utility boat. WOT speed averaged about 16.5 kmh or 10 mph. Motor has a three blade Michigan Wheel brass prop. Load is about 250 lbs including driver, fuel tank and back up 2 hp motor.

  • I run 24:1 with synthetic outboard motor oil

  • Great vid. Where is this shot?... I couldn't make out the GPS. Just resurrected my 1950's Johnson 5.5 hp, it never quits!

  • Video was shot in Hamilton, Ontario. The GPS simply showed the current travel speed and max speed achieved.

  • That flies for a 5.5hp. I'd like to see one with a 2 blade prop on a solo run.

  • I'm too heavy for a 2 blade prop. If you weigh 160lbs or less and run solo you'd probably be better off with a 2 blade prop.
