Beginning in January 2008 the Mitchell Center, in partnership with the University of Houston School of Art and Creative Writing Program, hosted the Center for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI) for a residency that focused on the Buffalo Bayou, the Houston Ship Channel, and their environs.
CLUI members conducted their research and residency activities from their mobile office on the banks of the bayou. CLUI also worked with students from courses in the UH School of Art, Creative Writing Program and College of Architecture to visit, examine and interpret the regional landscape.
