On October, 29 20011 the very first snow, by no means heavy, broke down HUGE number of the trees in West Hartford, Connecticut. Those, in turn, downed the power lines under them.

Seventy percent of the households lost electricity. Financial crisis and thus heavily reduced Connecticut Light and Power workforce amplified the effects of the disaster on the community.

It was not a standard case of falling trees by any means, just look at the sheer number of them and the color of foliage. The citizens were told that the massive falling of trees was caused by leaves still being on them, which increased the load on branches.

One does not have to argue the matter much, only have an Environmental Lab check the brush for Aluminium, Barium, Strontium content to determine the cause.
