Eugene Sacred Harp Singers 5th Annual Hope Abbey singing of shape note music in the mausoleum of the Eugene Masonic Cemetery. Jim Brock leads Jordan, page 66 in The Sacred Harp, composed by William Billings in 1786, with words by Isaac Watts, 1707. You can see us passing the hat to pay for the rented chairs.
Good stuff. I didn't realize this hymn and tune made it into the Sacred Harp lexicon. I have posted a performance of Billings's "Jordan" (you can bring it up by searching for William Billings Jordan...it's a more concert-y performance with (I think) all the verses. Billings does a tremendous job with old Isaac Watts's words.

I wonder if any other shape note singings are held in mausoleums! I can think of lots of shape note songs with words that would be 'right at home' there. (The space does seem to have good acoustics for singing.)
Thanks for posting this interesting video.
