I also played this song to death, and the flipside 'Fooled Again' is brilliant, so much better than the album version. I saw Tom Petty at Knebworth festival in 1978 and I still love to play his stuff over 30 years on....omg..30 years! :O

In 1977 I wasn't taking much notice when Tom started playing this song on a tv program. I didn't have a clue who he was, I didn't know what the song was called. But at the weekend I went to town and thumbed through all the singles until I found one that 'could' be it. Luckily for me it was it. I took it home and played it to death. And the B-side which is even better!

with this short brush Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were in 1976 in the German music broadcasting "Disco" on the German television with host Ilja Richter - rockin', crazily, as well as it is great fun. Like this song still today very much. Lots of love from Germany.

@Ayeyuya The show I saw was before the Old Grey Whistle show, It was billed as Seattle's punk rock premier, With the Ramones and Tom Petty, believe it or not.

Back then a lot of bands went to England to make a name for them selfs. It WAS HARD for a new American band to break in the music industry back then in America.
