The RLS (restless leg syndrome) is very much like the 'slide' arm break from the spider web position but uses the leg to shake down your opponent instead.

  • I mean if the arm crush fails, or if I'm just having a hard time setting it up(i.e. they know its comming and making it difficult), I'll fall back to the RLS.

  • Ah...got ya...the RLS is working well for me. Thanks for the vid Chris!

  • Ari, works great with the arm crush as well, another of my "go to" moves.

  • Chris:

Do you mean after your foot goes over the arm, you lean back and shake? I just keep using the douche bag on everyone now...I am such a bastard!

  • Hey guys Chris here, thanks for all the nice comments they are appreciated.

When I do this live I usually keep the underhook on the leg and finish the armbar with the spider web. I demo'd it this way as most people finish the arm bar in the same manner (just personal prefrence). I use the slide as well, this is just a varation to change it up, if they are looking for the slide. This version has that "suprise" factor to it.

  • Chris:

Been using this a lot in class. Very high percentage for me and it is also great for guys who can't get arm crushes.

  • it's called spider web because when done right the person is as helpless as a fly caught in a spider web. he and other people give the moves weird names so it's easier to remember them.

  • GENIUS!

*shake* "oh shit im hurting him!....oh shit my arm is broken!"

  • I find that this is the most effective way (for me anyway) to get the armbar from Spider Web. If that fail I like to go for an arm crush and if that fails I work the body from top to bottom, Douche bag then the Stake.

  • Very good I have never tried this. Why Spider Web??? Eddie Bravo likes crazy names??

  • sweet, I havent seen that move in years, on the net. for us ol' schoolers we used to call that the VIBRATOR!

  • stops them coming up to their knees and then stacking you.

  • Would the buck really mess with the armbar tho?

I'd just go wrist to wrist with the arm I was trying to lock and pull back and that usually works.

  • Funny you ask 'cuz I was just thinking about this yesterday. I have found myself doing the same thing when I'm in Spider Web. I started out grabbing the near leg, as usual, but one thing that would happen with people who had experienced it before is that they would straighten that leg and drop it to the ground, breaking my underhook and freeing their leg. But, now that I reach through and grab palm down on their opposite leg, it prevents that. In a sense, they are pushing against their own leg.

  • control of the leg takes alot of power from their buck. you're taking alot of their mobility away by doing so and keeping it in tight.

As for the arm scissor, I don't know.

  • Just a couple of questions (I'm not that experienced so bear with me):

Why do you weave your hand through their legs?

Wouldnt it be easier to go for an arm scissor instead of this?
