Global Music Expressions will be an experiment in music production as well as an experimental studio documentary. The concept is to bring together 8-10 musicians from countries around the world who can play at least one traditional instrument from their country. The objective is to have them work together as a group to make original music. Themes will be presented to the musicians from which they will create the music.
This entire process of innovation and creativity will be documented in the studio where they will be working on the original music. This will be documented with 1 to 4 cameras during the one week of rehearsals. Additional interviews and discussion will be recorded with each participant.
The objective for the musicians will be to develop at least 8 -10 original pieces of music using as many traditional instruments as possible. Phase 1 of the project will be done over a 3 day period (30 June -- 2 July) The gallery of the studio may be open to let public in for watching the process.. Thursday afternoon -- Friday afternoon and Saturday all day.
The rehearsal and creative sessions along with the final performance recordings will be edited into a one hour documentary featuring the process and the results.
EXPRESSION THEMES: Musicians will develop the music from 8 designated themes: WAR, PEACE and HARMONY, FREEDOM, STRUGGLE, INSPIRATION, LONELINESS, JOY
