With photos from the 1920's and clips of the original artwork from the Isham Jones/GusKahn sheet music of the song with the same title. However this is a different song and the lyrics of this romantic duet took me less than half an hour to write and the song is for everyone who is separated from a loved one, or was, or..., or who simply enjoys a waltz, or a fantasy...
As usual, all instruments, male vocals and arrangement by myself.

I'll See You In My Dreams

Last night I was thinking how nice it would be
To hear your sweet voice talking to me
And listen as you tell me all of the things
The thoughts on your mind that each new day brings
An ocean between us keeps us apart
But distance means nothing to the beat of my heart
When the night fell in my sleep it seems
You came and you spoke to me in my dreams.

And I was thinking how nice it would be
To see you again laughing with me
Your bright eyes oh how could I ever forget
The smile that brought love that my heart always kept
An ocean between us keeps us apart

But distance means nothing to the beat of my heart
When last night fell in my sleep it seems
You came and I saw you in my dreams. (last 4 lines twice)

Well today I was thinking how nice it would be
To hold you so tight closely to me
And dance 'till the darkness fades from the skies
While memories linger with the sleep in my eyes.
An ocean between us keeps us apart
But distance means nothing to the beat of my heart
So when the night falls and we're alone or so it seems
I'll come and I'll see you in my dreams.
Oh tonight I'll see you in my dreams.

  • WHAT a lovely, sensitive video. So good, and so decent. The song makes that squeezy feeling, that sort of twinge thing, happen in my heart, I went to your website and I love the line, "Original music without the music industry." I have been writing songs for many years, and that certainly hit home :).

  • @katsongs Thank you so much for your lovely comments

  • One of the nicest videos I've seen on youtube. The singers you chose to play the song for were just great and your use of the classic postcards and the photos went along with the song to create just the right atomsphere and bring back to mind a kinder and gentler age. Thanks for all the time and effort you put in to creating such a little masterpiece!

  • @Frankyvn1 Thank you so much for such a kind compliment it is greatly appreciated.

  • I enjoyed the song very much. I loved the pictures of the silent movie stars that you included.

  • @Shabannie Thanks Ellen, nice to hear from you.

  • Act while you may if you have a true love apart. I'm 71 years old. My real life's love was lost in time because I never spoke up. She never knew how I longed for her all those years until 4 months before she died -- five months ago and now I know how to speak up but I can never get back to the point that I would be starting that life I could have had. So, if you have a true love -- let him or her know NOW!!!!!

  • Aw shucks, I'm buying a copy of this one.

Postcards of Life please keep us postcarded as you present more songs.

    This is terrific.

  • Gus Kahn would have approved. This original composition is one of the best I've heard in quite a while. The video presentation also one of the best. Keep up the good work, one day maybe soon, we will leave this dark ages of music behind and beautiful romantic songs will return. Thank you, really everything is first class.
