    Same sex marriages are not recognized by the federal government, therefore any rights given to heterosexual married couples (i.e. insurance benefits, adoption rights, next of kin rights, filing for joint tax returns, residency for partners from another country, etc...) That is why we are fighting for same sex marriage.
