Well, the black bars you see on the screen are an illusion. They are not really there in real life, nor were they present when I recorded the video. They are a result of two scanning systems out of sync. The TV was flashing images onto the screen at a rate of 60x per second, by the digital camera I was using wasn't taking 60 frames a second. The result was that the two scanning systems (the TV and the camera) were "out of phase", or out of sync with one another.

The result is always the appearance of black bars on a TV set screen. Try it with an old TV set you own, and your digital camera. The result will be similar, if not identical.
