The City Council of the City of Prattville honored YMCA Executive Director Willis Bradford on the occasion of his retirement with this resolution acknowledging his vast contributions to the YMCA, the youth of our community and the City of Prattville.
[To Commend Mr. Willis Bradford.]
WHEREAS, Willis Bradford was hired as the first director of the newly incorporated Prattville YMCA; and
WHEREAS, in his first five years, Mr. Bradford achieved the highest YMCA community participation rate of 25% (3,000 participants out of a population of 12,000) and helped raise over $325,000 to build the first permanent facility -- now known as the Don M. Smith Branch YMCA; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bradford expanded his leadership role in the community as he served on numerous boards, supported local civic organizations, held key leadership positions at First United Methodist Church, and provided the leadership to organize the United Way of Autauga County; and
WHEREAS, under Mr. Bradford's leadership the YMCA continued to develop new programs that have had a positive, Christian impact on the city and as the YMCA membership grew, the Prattville YMCA became known nationally as "The Biggest Small-Town YMCA in America;" and
WHEREAS, with strong community support and volunteer leadership, Willis Bradford's fundraising efforts have greatly expanded the YMCA facilities; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bradford has earned numerous awards for his leadership and commitment to the YMCA, to his church, and to the Prattville community.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Prattville does hereby commend Mr. Willis Bradford for his continued dedication to the children and youth of Prattville.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Prattville, on behalf of the City of Prattville, does hereby express its sincere appreciation to Mr. Willis Bradford for his leadership and commitment to the Prattville community.
