For any Doctor Who fans, its a little known fact that Nick Lowe featured Tom Baker on the drums 0:19

Wish some would do a cool cover of this song

I saw the Toronto version of this show at the "Concert Hall", a venue that was also known as "The Masonic Temple" (it was upstairs) and back in the early 70's was "The Rockpile".
Edmunds played the venue with Love Sculpture and stuck "Rockpile" into the back of his mind for future use.
It was a great night with Paul and Nick trading off songs for the whole night. It's where I first heard Carrack's classic "I Need You".

Damn, I got to interview my Lowe in 1985 with my radio shack cassette recorder. I was so nervous talking to the guy. I asked him about Bruce Springsteen who was huge at the time, if he'd consider covering a Bruce song. He, without a pause, said, he'd hope Bruce would consider covering one of his. A true English pub rocker with an amazing sense of melody and timing. Paul Carrack was in a room by himself just hanging out. Wow. College radio and free passes.

AFL had his own hits in England with Amen Corner... "If paradise, was half as nice". He also did the MTV Unplugged sessions with Eric Clapton.

I know that Andy Fairweather Lowe did some great work for The Who, and I've always liked Paul Carrack. This song was off the album "Nick Lowe and His Cowboy Outfit", c. 1984.

Man... what a solid career Nick Lowe has had.... and so well deserved!! One of those "not crazy famous but damn is he good" kinda guys. He AND Dave Edmunds.... both have brought me a LOT of musical joy through the years!! Another great post here. ~KK
